We will talk about how to change bar tape in an easy-to-understand way for beginners.
What to prepare
- Vinyl tape

- New bar tape for replacement
The bar tape to be used is from the manufacturer “Dizna”.

Look at this! This used bar tape! It is white, frayed and deteriorated!
They say you can see the rider’s ability when you look at the deterioration that has occurred with use, but what do you see?

Bracket Cover & End Cap
First, flip up the bracket cover.
It is stiff, but can be turned by hand.
Then remove the end caps.
Remove a little at a time with a flat-blade screwdriver, etc.
Start winding from the lower handle.
(1) Start wrapping the bar tape by extending it 1 cm beyond the tip of the lower handle.
(To fold the bar tape stretched 1cm into the hole of the drop handle and fasten it with the end caps)
(2) Wrap the bar tape from the lower handle in the direction of the red arrow
Inner roll? or outer? Either one is fine.
It is better to focus on the fit when you hold the handlebars to see if it is right for you!
Wrap around the base of the dual controller lever, a difficult area.
This time, I’m going to wear it across my body.
(1) Wind upward in the direction of the red arrow.
(2) Then wind horizontally in the direction of the red arrow.
(3) Wind upward in the direction of the green arrow.
Finish winding up to the top of the drop handle
Check if the bracket rubber hides the dual controller levers (red circle)
If you think you’ve failed here, don’t give up!
If you peel it off calmly and cleanly, you can redo it (the site administrator tried three times).
Decorative Tape & End Caps
(1) Apply tape for bar tape fastening.
(2) Apply decorative tape
(3) Fold over the excess bar tape and tighten it with the end caps.
Some people do not stop the end caps to save weight, but there have been actual cases of drop handlebars sticking into the human body when falling from a bike.
It hurts when it stings.
Be sure to tighten the end caps!
