Looking up at Mt. Haruna on a morning as the end of summer approaches.

If there was a cloud hanging over that mountain, there was usually an evening shower.

Nowadays, I’m happy and sad at the outrageous figures issued by the Japan Meteorological Agency ( JMA), but as an anime lover, I’m thinking in my brain, “Let’s watch Weathering With You!and the circuit was connected.

Impressions (The Adolescent Mind)

The last time I saw Makoto Shinkai’s film was “The Garden of Words“.

The character of the protagonist, as I see it, was “respecting his world and his time”.

The main character (Morishima Hotaka ) in the “Weathering With You” we saw this time is a straight and serious character with a strong dynamic.

I think it depends on the person who sees it which is his/her favorite main character, but the expression of the mind and actions of an adolescent, which is the quintessence of director Makoto Shinkai, is one word that describes it wonderfully.

I just admire how you can express the feelings of an adolescent so vividly.

Impressions (Shadow protagonist?)

Keisuke Suga is one of the characters.

Keisuke Suga, who gives the impression of being sloppy and messy, is a magazine writer by trade.

But the truth is, I’m a people person and I have a deep love for my family.

His upbringing seems to be similar to that of the main character, and he sometimes depicts scenes in which he sympathizes with the main character.

It is rarely spoken in words, but expressed in habits and actions.

Other scenes are depicted in fleeting moments of scene changes and are told in fragments in the main narrative.

When we look at aart, we tend to focus on the hero and heroine who are the center of the story, but if we take another look at the work, we will realize that.

And when you realize Keisuke Suga’s feelings for his family, you will be heartbroken.

I’m at the maximum level of tightness in my heart at this scene.

This time I thought the “Weathering With You” piece was a multi-layered story, not only the story of the hero and heroine, but also the story of Keisuke Suga.

I wonder if the director Makoto Shinkai mixed the story of Keisuke Suga into the film, so that people of the protagonist’s age would not notice it, but “older viewers would notice it”.

I thought that the structure of this story could only be done by director Makoto Shinkai, who has received a certain amount of years of experience.

It’s a story that’s hard for young people to create.

At the end

What I thought when I saw “Weathering With You” this time was that, compared to “The Garden of Words” the subjective direction (point of view) seemed to have decreased.

Also, the number of monologues is decreasing.

On the other hand, there is a lot of detail in the drawings, so much so that you can miss it if you don’t look at it several times.

The work itself is more vivid, and I felt that I had to follow it or I would be far away from it.

I will continue to enjoy the works of director Makoto Shinkai that I have yet to see.
